Potomac Elementary PTA coordinates with a small number of community and teacher-led enrichment programs for our school community. Occasionally, there are additional before- and after-school programs offered through outside vendors via ActiveMONTGOMERY.
Fall 2026 Enrichment Programs
Silver Knights Chess Academy / Grades K-5 / Sept 29 to December 22: (formerly Magnus Chess) Chess club will be held on Tuesdays between 8:15 – 9:15 am. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments outside of club time, which may have an additional fee. All chess supplies provided. All grades and skill levels are welcome! Register HERE.
Register for Girls on the Run @ PES this fall! / Grades 3-5 / September 28 – Nov 19: Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity-based positive youth development program. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program aims to build confidence through accomplishment while fostering a lifelong appreciation for health and fitness. The program is open to girls in 3rd-5th grade. The team will meet twice per week for eight weeks, starting the week of September 27th and ending on November 22nd. Practices will be on Monday & Thursday mornings from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Your child must be able to attend both days of practice in order to participate in the program. Potomac Choir Plus+ / Grades 3-5 / Fall Session Begins Wednesday, September 16: Potomac Choir Plus+ is an extracurricular activity for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who are interested in additional opportunities to learn, create, make, and perform music together. PC+ is led by Gretchen Hill, PES Music Teacher. We will meet every Wednesday morning from 8:15 to 9:15 am in the PES Music Classroom. As we will be working towards public performances, students must be present and on time to every rehearsal. Guardians are asked to communicate promptly with Ms. Hill if their student needs to miss a rehearsal. Mathnasium / Grades K-5 / September 10 – December 17: Mathnasium will hold on-site classes for grades K-5 at PES on Thursdays from 8:15 – 9:15 am beginning January 22nd. Students will receive an hour of hands-on math enrichment with games, homework help, and rewards from trained, experienced Mathnasium instructors. Register HERE.
