Winter 2026 Enrichment Programs

Potomac Elementary PTA coordinates with a small number of community and teacher-led enrichment programs for our school community. Occasionally, there are additional before- and after-school programs offered through outside vendors via ActiveMONTGOMERY.

Winter 2026 Enrichment Programs

Mathnasium / Grades K-5 / Jan 22 Mar 26: Mathnasium will hold on-site classes for grades K-5 at PES on Thursdays from 8:15 – 9:15 am beginning January 22nd. Students will receive an hour of hands-on math enrichment with games, homework help, and rewards from trained, experienced Mathnasium instructors. Register HERE.

Silver Knights Chess Academy / Grades K-5 / Feb 3 to May 5: (formerly Magnus Chess) Chess club will be held on Tuesdays between 8:15 – 9:15 am. Students can sign up for additional chess tournament prep on Mondays between 8:15 – 9:15 am. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments outside of club time, which may have an additional fee. Girls on the Run / Grades 3-5 / Sept 29 to Nov 23: (Waiting on Winter Update) Sign up your child for the Fall 2025 Girls on the Run team at PES now. Girls in grades 3-5 are eligible to participate.The season begins on Monday, Sept. 29 and ends with a celebratory 5K at Westfield Montgomery Mall on Sunday, Nov. 23. Practices will be on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:00 – 5:30 pm. Attendance is required and space is limited so those who register must plan to attend practice both days of the week. Register today.

Potomac Choir Plus+ / Grades 3-5 / Begins Sept 17: Potomac Choir Plus+ is an extracurricular activity for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who are interested in additional opportunities to learn, create, make, and perform music together. PC+ is led by Gretchen Hill, PES Music Teacher. We will begin rehearsals on Wednesday, September 17th, and will meet every Wednesday morning from 8:15 to 9:15 am in the PES Music Classroom. As we will be working towards public performances, including the Fall and Spring Concerts, students must be present and on time to every rehearsal. Guardians are asked to communicate promptly with Ms. Hill if their student needs to miss a rehearsal.
