It’s that time of year again where Potomac families rally to help others! Every year since the pandemic, we have helped our sister school, Highland Elementary, provide grocery store gift cards to some of their most vulnerable families during the Thanksgiving holidays.
This year, Potomac Elementary Staff & Students and The PES Education Foundation are on board to help us increase our impact even more by running a food drive at the annual Turkey Trot! Please bring a non-perishable food item to the Turkey Trot on Friday, November 7th. Please see below for a list of most needed items:
Maseca (specific cornmeal for tortillas)
Dry beans (black, red)
Flour
Tomato sauce and paste
Rice
Condiments: Salt, Pepper, Garlic powder, Onion powder, Sugar
Cooking Oil
Condensed & Evaporated milk
Boxed cake mixes
Hot Chocolate (Abuelita brand)
*We do not use our PTA funds to pay for this, but rather, we use our communication platforms and ongoing Cash for Causes fundraiser to coordinate this for Highland Elementary. Giant’s Cash for Causes program gives our school a little kickback on every gift card purchase. Talk about a win-win situation for everyone!
